Creativity and Yoga Unite

I am a big believer that creativity underpins learning, exciting curiosity, igniting imagination, opening doors to the great possibilities of life and wellbeing.

For more than three decades, I have been designing and crafting jewellery, precious metal sculptures and hollow ware, drawing and painting from my home studio in the Barossa Valley. My jewellery is made with precious metals, colorful gemstones, ancient beads, and alternative materials, resulting in unique and timeless creations adorning clients all around the world. I have successfully exhibited in many exhibitions throughout my career both solo and group exhibitions.

Recently I have had the pleasure of reigniting my passion for drawing and painting, learning the intricacies of oil painting and enjoying the freedom of expression through a different medium and in the 2-dimensional realm. I paint with brushes and palette knife techniques although experimentation is always embraced, and my subjects vary to include landscapes, seascapes, still-life and portraiture. With a passion for photography, I often use my own photographs as a reference or inspiration for the subjects I paint. I have exhibited my paintings at Wonderground Barossa Art Gallery where I also teach yoga 2 days a week. I consider it a privilege to be involved with such a supportive creative community where art and yoga unite. Practicing yoga surrounded by beautiful art amongst the rolling hills and vineyards of the Barossa Valley, under the watchful eyes of the resident kangaroos.... sometimes you just need to pinch yourself.

Yoga, meditation and the power of connection

Yoga has always been a part of my life sometimes a lot, sometimes a little. My earliest memories go back to when I was 4 years old and being at the back of Mums yoga class mimicking (and  giggling) at my mother and the other "old" ladies but at the same time thinking they were pretty clever.  However it was in my mid teens when I was recovering from serious illness after a long stint in hospital that I really immersed myself into mindfulness practices. I joined a meditation group and went along weekly in the hope that it would help my insomnia - It did, and a whole lot more. It opened the first window to a deeper understanding of myself and sparked my intuition to continue along this path. A few years later regular visits to an Iyengar yoga studio nearby followed.  Once you start you know you have it there for life if you need it, it's like picking up a paintbrush after two decades so to speak or riding bike, it becomes deeply ingrained into our way of life. I liken my practice to my silversmithing toolbox, it has everything I need in it for navigating my way through life. Similar to our creative endeavors, the practice of yoga possesses the ability to spark imagination, fuel the flow of creative instincts and nurture a deeper sense of trust and connection in the process.
Embedded in holistic philosophies of well-being yoga offers a multitude of practices and teachings designed to have effects beyond the physical to include mental, social, and spiritual well-being. Through exploration and experimentation, participants are encouraged to identify with their experiences that resonate most with them and develop a personalized yoga practice that is both authentic and fulfilling. Yoga can be an excellent therapeutic modality to help manage many mental health symptoms such as anxiety, menopausal depression PTSD to name a few.

I invite you to join our community to take time to connect and slow down amidst the constant 24/7 hustle of modern life and enjoy the moment with a mindful presence and a compassionate heart.
